It appears that Tumblr built in a day or two what no D.C.-based technology supplier could come up with in the last five years.

However, what allowed Tumblr to build its SOPA bashing machine is something unique to Tumblr that I’ve never observed in any other social media service: A SPINE. What other company has ever demonstrated such willingness to inconvenience and confuse millions of users in order to draw attention to a cause it truly believes in? Name one.

Tumblr stuck its neck out and educated, empowered, and mobilized over 87,000 people as a result. We’re lucky to have Tumblr.
